As for you and I, what would you consider one of the most important priorities of life for a child of God? Would It be coming to know Him and His ways, so that we not only hear about Him? Would that priority be to know your identity in God and growing in maturity through the knowledge of God as His beloved sons and daughters? Or are you and I focused on what we do, and not on who we are in Him? Jesus says our priority is to love Him with all our heart and soul and seek His Kingdom first, to dwell (not visit) the special Secret Place in God. This is the place we are made to inhabit and abide under the shadow of His presence as His lovely children.
HE WHO dwells in the Secret Place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]. I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust! For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways [of obedience and service]. (Psalm 91:1, 2, 11 AMP)
Psalm 91 contains such deep truths and although it is a well-known chapter, it is still a mystery, revealed for those who ears and are intimate with the Father God through His Spirit. Verse 1 speaks of a dwelling place of the Most High, a place that is available for all to dwell. According to Oxford English Dictionary, the word to “dwell” is defined as “live in or at a specified place” and it has nothing to do with “visit” or “show up occasionally” in this hidden place. Dwelling in the Secret Place speaks of abiding and living in an environment known and experienced by those who seek and desire it with all their heart. It t is the most amazing a place of vital importance for every child of God to dwelling, for it is the place of His presence. From His presence, you and I are able to grow and mature as sons of God. It is in this environment of His presence that we as believers are designed to function, flourish, and live as priests and kings in the Kingdom of God on the earth.
The Secret Place is also an environment of protection, safety, and stability that will assure you against any lack, turmoil or disturbance that tries to steal peace and keep us from resting in His presence. It is the true atmosphere, where every believer finds a firm foundation in order to build trust and confidence in His love. As His love grows in us, fear and doubt are not able to come near you to penetrate, or steal the joy of His presence. The Secret Place is the perfect place of communion, intimacy and friendship ? as well as it is very personal. There is nothing more precious than to hear His voice and walk in radical obedience even through challenging paths and seasons of life.
[So I went with him, and when we were climbing the rocky steps up the hillside, my beloved shepherd said to me] O my dove, [while you are here] in the seclusion of the clefts in the solid rock, in the sheltered and Secret Place of the cliff, let me see your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely. (Song of Solomon 2:14 AMP)
